My mother in law is a twin but none of her kids are, my two sister in laws had kids but none were twins, so it will leave my brother in law and my husband. If me and my husband decided to have a baby will they be twins?? I heard it skips a generation??

Genetics does not affect the chances of identical twins. The chance of having them is the same for all women. However, there is some limited connection of hereditary with fraternal twins, but it comes through the mother's side of the family. This is because fraternal twins occur as the result of 2 eggs being released at ovulation. A woman with history of fraternal twins has a small increase in the chance she'll have fraternal twins, too. The father plays no part in the chance of twins. This, of course, doesn't mean you won't have twins as even people with no twin history in their family can still have twins. However, because your mother-in-law is a twin this does not increase your chances of having twins.
