Can i get my desktop icons to move freely around my desk top?

I have an XP, Id like my icons to move around freely like they did on my old computer... The icons on my desk top just plunk into place into there place evenly spaced. If anybody understands what im talking about and if there is any way you can change the settings some how let me know.

Right click --> Arrange icons by --> Uncheck "Align to grid"
